That's a small block!

Phase I : Engine removal

This weekend was spent removing the engine. As you can see from the photos, it is out. We also tore it down to individual pieces so parts can be sent out for machining and other work. I am going to have the cylinders bored out to take care of an obvious scoring that happened in two of the cylinders. The journals on the crank were all the same size. But Toyota does something kind of funky. The bearings used from one journal to the next can be different to take up any slack in the connecting rod. Therefore, I will be having the connecting rods & bearings matched to the crank at the machine shop. This may require grinding the connecting rods down a bit to allow the use of standard size bearings. This way all bearings will be the exact same size.

Thanks Sandy for the pictures!!
